Monk Applying Colored Sand to Sand Mandala
By scraping copper-based cones filled with colored sand the monks are able to perform intricate designs and drawings. The cone has checkering all along the vertical side and a small metal bar is able to produce vibrations strong enough to let the colored sand pour out from the edge of the cone.
