Shigatse, Tibet: Long before being misappropriated by Hitler, the swastika was a benevolent symbol shared by animistic cultures around the globe. Found in Buddhist and Hindu symbology, it was also seen in early Viking and Roman cultures, and in tribal cultures throughout the world.
