Red Sadhu, India by Lisa Kristine

Red Sadhu, India

Usually beginning as a layman, a Sadhu is one who has given up his worldly possessions and desires for the sake of liberation. As a wandering holy man, he spends his time in meditation and service. Here this majestic, holy man, cloaked in vibrant red, is found in an oasis village enveloped by miles of sand. The very religious and devout town of Pushkar is a collection of old, white washed dwellings surrounding a holy lake. It is here he will partake in the current holy festival of Shivaratri.
