Red Calm, Myanmar by Lisa Kristine

Red Calm, Myanmar

Ananda Temple is a center of Buddhist activity and like the rest of Buddhist Burma, the teachings are of the Hinayana tradition. On this particular morning before the dawn approached, one could marvel as the red robes of the monks floated like spirits out of the temple. The monk in this photograph strode majestically beneath a large, hanging tree, having freshly departed from the contemplation of his meditation. His calm and satiated face is set as a reminder to take time to simply be without distraction.
