Twilight Study #1, Zanzibar by Lisa Kristine

Twilight Study #1, Zanzibar

The blue monotone azure of Zanzibar, land and sky indecipherable, has forever lured adventurous voyagers to its faraway shores. The ingredients for the exotic and magical are successfully brewed together on this island off the coast of Eastern Tanzania.
The African floating world was run and owned by the powerful Omani Arabs during the 19th century.  Their Sultan dominated the largest slave trade in East Africa and the greatest spice trade in the world.
Now, known as the “Spice Island,” Zanzibar is idyllic and inspiring. The image of young men throwing their bodies into the soft twilight is quintessential to the beauty and natural manner of living on the island’s north eastern shores.
