Banares, City of Light, India
The city of Shiva is set along the sacred Ganges River and has been a centre of learning and civilization for over 2000 years. Varanasi, also known as Banares, the "City of Light," is an auspicious place to bathe in the holy waters. It is believed to help liberate the soul by doing so. Indeed, it is an aspiration of most Hindu pilgrims to journey here to die since expiring in Banares ensures release from the cycle of rebirths.
Banares is a magical city where the most intimate rituals of life and death take place, unhidden and utterly natural.
