Elvis Listens to a Quick Cut

Elvis at 21: New York to Memphis

Alfred Wertheimer

Alfred Wertheimer was an up-and-coming photographer who saw something special in this “Hillbilly Cat” from Mississippi. He traveled with Elvis Presley throughout 1956, capturing wonderful and intimate moments as Elvis hovered on the cusp of celebrity. This collection represents the only candid photos of Elvis ever taken. Shortly after, “the Colonel” restricted access to the young singer.

From backstage to onstage, from piano benches to Harleys, from on-the-road to screaming fans, Wertheimer offers us the chance to experience the essence of Elvis through these exhibition quality, signed gelatin silver photographs.

Wertheimer’s bestselling title, Elvis at 21: New York to Memphis, is available for sale with the exhibition, and Wertheimer is available for presentations about his experience with “the King” before Elvis was crowned by his adoring public.
